PRIVACY POLICY
 

The Bookless Cook provides cookery instruction via hands-on classes, cookery demonstrations and other events such as talks (“events”). It is a sole trader enterprise with its registered address at PO Box 74334, London, SW19 9JP.  It is operated by Mel Barrett (“I”).

This privacy policy explains how I use any personal information collected about you in connection with a Bookless Cook event.

How I collect personal information

I collect information from you in the following ways:

  1. When you book a ticket to attend a Bookless Cook event via the third-party ticketing platform Eventbrite. Please note, in order to book Bookless Cook events through Eventbrite, users must set-up an Everbrite account.  All information provided by you to Eventbrite in connection with Bookless Cook events is governed by Eventbrite's Privacy Policy, a copy of which is located at www.eventbrite.com/privacypolicy. 
  2. When you communicate with me by any means, eg by sending an email to info@thebooklesscook.co.uk.
  3. When you complete my booking survey or any other surveys I send you.

 

The personal information I collect

I may collect and process the following data about you:

  1. Personal identifiers such as your title, name and year of birth (to verify that you are 18 years or over, as I often serve alcohol).
  2. Contact details, including postal address, postcode, email and telephone number. NB As I hold events in my home, I may use the Royal Mail's postcode finder, National Change of Address update (NCOA®) or the electoral roll to confirm the address provided as a precautionary measure.
  3. Information on dietary requirements and food preferences. 
  4. Information on any medical needs, health conditions or other personal situations which may be relevant to you attending a Bookless Cook event (eg there are certain foods that pregnant women are advised to avoid). 

The Data Protection Act recognises some information as 'sensitive personal data'.  This includes, but it not limited to, information which reveals your religious beliefs, health issues, race or ethnic origin.  I will treat all sensitive personal data carefully and respectfully and in accordance with the Data Protection Act.



How I will use your information

I will use the information you provide in the following way:

  1. To process your booking.
  2. To assist with planning the event:  I try to take into account personal requirements and preferences when working out what to teach.
  3. For the purposes of contacting you with information relating to Bookless Cook events on which you have a confirmed place, for example, I will email seven days before an event with my home address.
  4. For the purposes of contacting you with information relating to future Bookless Cook events and news. For example, I will send you my newsletter periodically.
  5. I may contact you to gather feedback and/or conduct analysis for the purposes of improving the Bookless Cook offering.

I will not share any of your data with any other third parties, except where required to do so by law.
